HomeMac ComputersSigning Into a MacThe Login Window

1.1. The Login Window

With the move to Mosyle as our MDM we're now able to allow users to sign into a Mac computer with their Active Directory credentials. Shown below is the standard login Window that appears on Mac computers. Click the "Sign in with Active Directory" bar to proceed.

Important Note: When a Mac is assigned to an single user in Mosyle, only that person is allowed to sign in.

Next, enter your Active Directory username in firstname.lastname format as shown below, then enter your password and click the blue Sign In button.

If this is the first time signing into a Mac, macOS will create a local account and profile on the computer using the same credentials you entered for Active Directory. This will allow you to login anytime you're not connected to a network, our the school district's Active Directory server cannot be reached.

When you need to sign in using the local account, click the head-and-shoulders icon (see red circle) in the upper right corner to reach the local account sign in window. Enter your username and password as shown below, then click then click the arrow located beneath the password field.
